TRANS YOUTH

because not all menstruators are girls

A safe and supportive circle for menstruators/future menstruators and their caregivers to explore the body’s rhythms through affirming conversations about identity, self-care, and cyclical wisdom.

FROM THE HEART

PRIDE of Change was born, like all of my offerings, from the heart. As the mother of a trans boy — now a young trans man — my path has unfolded a little differently from that of mothers raising girls. This journey, and my relationship with my son, have given me the opportunity to grow not only as a person but also as a facilitator of menstrual education and rites of passage.

But Leo hasn’t been the only trans boy I’ve supported through Period of Change. Over the years, I’ve learned that many past participants have since come out as trans, and with each new cohort, more trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive youth have joined our circles. Their presence has deepened my understanding, my compassion, and my commitment to making sure every menstruator feels seen, respected, and included.

AFFIRMING & INCLUSIVE

While many menstrual education spaces and programs center girls, this circle was created for those who may not identify that way — and who still deserve accurate, affirming, and respectful information about their bodies.

I understand that puberty and menstruation can bring mixed feelings, from curiosity to discomfort, and that for many trans and nonbinary youth, it can be complicated. Here, we approach these topics with honesty, compassion, and inclusivity — helping every participant understand what’s happening in their body, why it matters, and how to care for themselves and self-advocate with dignity and knowledge.

Caregivers will learn alongside their child, gaining the language, context, and confidence to support them through puberty and beyond.

TOGETHER WE WILL...

Learn accurate, inclusive information about puberty, anatomy, hormones, and menstruation—without shame or assumption.

Explore the physical and emotional realities of having a cyclical body, including ways to track, care for, and support it.

Acknowledge the complex feelings that can arise around menstruation and body changes, and create space for each person’s truth.

Build language and tools for self-advocacy in medical, school, and social settings.

Support caregivers in understanding and affirming their child’s experience, with practical ways to offer care and comfort through this transition.

DOES MY TRANS/NONBINARY CHILD HAVE TO JOIN THIS CIRCLE?

Not at all. Every Period of Change circle welcomes all menstruators and future menstruators, regardless of gender identity or expression.

Over the years, I’ve found that some aspects of the traditional Period of Change circle and rite-of-passage experience, such as songs or language written specifically for girls and women, don’t always feel aligned for trans and gender-expansive youth.
PRIDE of Change was created as an additional option, offering the same body literacy and menstrual education within a space that centers inclusivity and affirmation.

Your child is always welcome in any circle that feels right for them.

THIS CIRCLE IS JUST BEGINNING

Like every Period of Change offering, this circle began as a seed, planted through love, learning, and lived experience. It continues to grow through listening, reflection, and care. As more trans and nonbinary youth and their caregivers join us, PRIDE of Change offerings will expand.

This is tender, evolving work. It’s being shaped thoughtfully, one conversation and one circle at a time.

PRIVATE MENTORSHIP & COACHING

I offer one-on-one sessions for parents and caregivers of trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive youth who want to feel more confident guiding their child through puberty, menstruation, and body changes.
As a parent of a trans son and step-parent of an AFAB non-binary human, and a longtime facilitator of menstrual education circles, I bring lived experience and professional expertise to help you navigate this terrain with clarity, compassion, and care.

Together, we can explore how to start (or reopen) conversations about bodies, gender, and self-care in ways that feel natural, respectful, and aligned with your family’s values.

You may also find that this journey brings up parts of your own story—your first period, your early experiences with sex education, or the messages you received about gender and the body. Our work together can help you process that history so you can show up for your child from a grounded, accepting place.

These sessions are a safe space to ask questions, find language for complex topics, and strengthen your connection with your child as they grow into themselves.
