10-12 year olds

welcoming our girls into the flow

This three-weekend circle is an immersive and empowering exploration of puberty, designed for girls ages 10–12 and their mothers or caregivers.

WILD WISDOM

A major focus of this circle the wisdom of our inner cycles, which lays the groundwork for lifelong menstrual literacy, self-awareness, and body sovereignty.

The conversations invite mothers into deeper understanding of the effect of patriarchy on their lived experiences as well; they often share that this circle is just as life-changing for them as it is for their daughter.

COMMUNITY & KINSHIP

Beyond the information and guidance shared, this experience weaves something deeper: community. In a time when so many mothers feel isolated in this chapter of parenting, and girls long for meaningful connection, the circle becomes a place of belonging. Cohorts that journey through Period of Change together often form lasting friendships and continue to gather long after their circle has closed. This is not just education—it’s kinship.

TOGETHER WE WILL . . .

Cover all the foundational topics from our younger cohort: body changes, female anatomy and physiology, hormonal cycles and menstruation, menstrual care, pleasure, and consent.

Introduce and discuss male anatomy, intercourse and conception, pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding - with honest, age-appropriate, and shame-free language.

Deeply explore and discuss our cyclical nature, and understand how our culture minimizes and pathologizes our normal physiological rhythms.

Integrate ample time and space for mothers to share their own stories, offering a tapestry of lived experience that both educates the girls and allows mothers the opportunity to heal.

Bless our circle experience with a symbolic rite-of-passage ceremony, welcoming each girl into the next stage of her journey with reverence, beauty, and belonging.

KIDS HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!

Period of Change participants are invited to ask all of their questions—anonymously if they choose—at any time during our gatherings. They are answered with honesty and clarity, eliminating any sense of shame or embarrassment around any topic they would like to discuss.

FEELING NERVOUS IS NORMAL

Many girls arrive feeling unsure, anxious, or even resistant to talking about puberty—and that makes perfect sense: our culture has shrouded these topics in embarrassment and silence for far too long. That’s why this circle holds space for all the feelings: awkwardness, discomfort, curiosity, and everything in between. Each gathering, each conversation, cultivates a powerful shift. By the end of our time together, girls are standing taller, asking questions boldly, and walking away with confidence, clarity, and pride in who they are becoming.

real quotes, from real girls:

FROM . . .

  • I'm nervous. I don't really understand.

  • I feel very nervous about this entire subject, and every time that I think about it, I start to feel anxious.

  • Uncomfortable

  • Puberty is weird and strange.

  • Confused. Scared.

TO . . .

  • I am feeling proud.

  • I feel comfortable about talking about puberty. I'm sad our circle time is ending.

  • I had a great time here! I wish I could do it again.

  • Thank you for helping me understand everything.

  • I wish this retreat was more often because I love it so much!

WHICH CIRCLE IS THE BEST FIT?

If your daughter is in the 9 - 10 age range, you may be wondering which group is the best fit. Here are a few guiding thoughts to help you decide:

  • Consider the conversations you’ve had:
Has she already learned about puberty, anatomy, periods, and body changes?

  • If these topics are brand new:
The 7–9 circle may be the gentler place to start, offering a soft, foundational introduction.

  • If she’s already begun exploring these themes:
The 10–12 circle might be ideal, allowing for deeper education, discussion, and ceremony.

I believe you know your child best. There's really no right or wrong answer, and both circles are nurturing, age-appropriate, and designed to empower.
